Gopher Women's Basketball Headed To Big Dance

Will Take on UW-Green Bay On Friday Afternoon

March 13, 2018 - 8:40 am

The University of Minnesota Golden Gopher women's basketball team is headed to the big dance... and the school's athletic director Mark Coyle couldn't be happier.

Coyle told WCCO Radio's Dave Lee on Tuesday morning "Obviously it's a great opportunity, so excited for Coach Stollings and the student athletes on that team to finish the year 23-7.  We battled Ohio State in the Semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament and now we have a chance to go out and play Green Bay out in Eugene, Oregon.  If we win that one, we'd play Oregon more than likely on their home court. We're excited about the opportunity and are excited to travel out there and have a chance to extend our season."

Minnesota (23-8) received a No. 10 seed in the Spokane Regional and will face No. 7 Green Bay (29-3) at 4 p.m. Friday in Eugene, Ore., in the first round of the NCAA tournament.  The game is scheduled to be broadcast on ESPN2.  If the Gophers win, they will play on Sunday against the winner of the game between No. 2-seed Oregon and No. 15 Seattle.

We are going DANCING!!!
